Tensions surrounding high school mobilizations and criticisms of institutional functioning

Institutions and democracy

The management of high school protests demonstrates a global drift of the rule of law according to Mediapart, while PaduTeam claims that democracy has been abolished under Emmanuel Macron. ClemovitchReplay argues that the government uses intelligence documents to falsely accuse La France Insoumise. Conversely, LE LAPIN DU FUTUR suggests that La France Insoumise uses violence in an attempt to seize power. Additionally, OMERTA denounces a totalitarianism established by the current government, and La Sanction regards Emmanuel Macron's management as a catastrophe.

Security and justice

Police violence against high school students is judged disproportionate by ClemovitchReplay and Paroles D'Honneur, the latter alleging the illegal use of offensive grenades. PaduTeam argues that this violence is staged by the media. In contrast, Psyhodelik claims that the high school movement is mostly violent and advocates for lowering the age of criminal responsibility to 15. VA Plus reports that anti-police hatred is now expressed in classrooms, while LE LAPIN DU FUTUR links suburb riots to a convergence of delinquency and jihadist ideology.

Education and culture

The lack of resources and the state of facilities motivate high school students' mobilization according to Histoires Crépues and Psyhodelik. Mediapart emphasizes that the lack of attractiveness of the teaching profession weakens the system. However, Psyhodelik also argues that students are subject to sectarian and leftist indoctrination. Regarding the university, Frontières reports that the administration denied access to classes for students wishing to study while the campus was blocked.

Media and information

Mediapart is accused by Psyhodelik of spreading fake news and distorting statements to slander Jordan Bardella. La Sanction considers the media's investigation methods inadmissible. For its part, Mediapart claims that the Rassemblement National seeks to discredit the media to avoid addressing the core issues. Finally, Vincent Lapierre reports being prevented from accessing a protest because he belongs to a right-wing media outlet.

Equality and discrimination

National priority for housing access is described as a xenophobic and racist measure by Clément Viktorovitch. Paroles D'Honneur argues that there is a differentiated police and judicial treatment between high schools in city centers and those in the suburbs. Conversely, Psyhodelik claims that the only racism existing in the suburbs is anti-white racism.

Identity and nation

The influence of anti-French rap and the urban planning of housing projects have created a gap with civil society according to LE LAPIN DU FUTUR. La Sanction argues that Europeans neglect identity and security issues to focus on purchasing power. Histoires Crépues suggests that the image of diverse high school students singing the Marseillaise contradicts clichés about the lack of patriotism among youth.

How the arguments are drawn

The theme’s political sentences are drawn at random by period, with quotas per orientation and a cap per channel and per video. Our local model reads the sentences without knowing their channel or orientation, groups those making the same argument, separates those reporting it in order to contest it and sets aside those off the theme. Orientation shares and quotes come from the sentences, never from the model. The last seven days are read again every day.
