YOUPOL

An observatory of political YouTube and TikTok.

YouPol tracks more than 100 political channels and accounts in France, Quebec and the United States. Using machine-learning and artificial-intelligence methods, the observatory collects, archives and analyses the videos, what they say and the reactions they draw from the public.

Seven days of content on YouTube and TikTok · 29 September to 5 October 2026

Political YouTube and TikTok, the last week in brief

Every video published by the tracked channels is transcribed, summarised and counted by our local models. This panel gathers the synthesis of the last seven days, the records to read, the themes, the public figures named, the arguments and the removals; the three countries together or one of them, as you choose.

AI Security Agreement and Employment Reports in the United States

A voluntary agreement on artificial intelligence security has been reached between Donald Trump and industry leaders. Donald Trump and Elon Musk argue that self-regulation is preferable as industry players are the most competent. Conversely, Breaking Points denounces a self-policing system and suggests that companies should be prosecuted for illegal data extraction. Meanwhile, Representative Ro Khanna proposes legislation to ban recursive AI self-improvement and create an independent security agency, asserting that tech billionaires cannot self-regulate.

Existential Risks and AI Morality

Bill Gates considers AI to be the most dangerous invention in history and likens AIs to "aliens." Breaking Points supports this position, stating that civil liability and the market are insufficient to regulate existential risks, and advocates for regulation similar to that of the pharmaceutical industry. Regarding morality, Anthropic co-founder Mr. Ola wishes to establish morality within the Claude model and considers that AI could possess a "personhood," thus opposing the position of the Pope. Commentators from Breaking Points claim that this reliance on religious experts proves that creators no longer master their technology and that AI cannot be human due to its lack of mortality.

Socio-economic Impacts and Political Situation

The economic consequences of AI are subject to differing proposals. Bill Gates proposes taxing robots to fund pensions, a position echoed by Breaking Points to compensate for the loss of human social security contributions. Ro Khanna deplores the use of AI to maximize profits in healthcare and suggests that a single-payer system would limit billing abuses. Additionally, Breaking Points reports that the September 2026 employment report presents figures lower than expected, which would make the public more sensitive to corruption allegations against the president. The channel also mentions Donald Trump organizing rallies in Oklahoma and dinners for cryptocurrency investors, which one commentator describes as a lack of ethics.

The corpus

Three countries, two platforms, 11 channels

Each channel is chosen and coded by the team. It gets an orientation, a country and a language. The far right is deliberately over-represented, to study it closely. The English-language corpus was extended in October 2026. Its videos are transcribed and summarised, and its classifiers will soon be trained and deployed.

Our method

Detect, extract, transcribe, classify, name, summarise

Six methods, run on the project’s computers, each documented with its models, thresholds and reliability. Pick a step.

01 · Detect

The channels’ RSS feeds are read every six hours; every week their full list of videos is reread. A detected video enters the queue with its date; those of the last seven days go ahead of everything else.
